The brightly colored plants in this listing were collected from beneath conifer trees growing in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Among the countless possible uses, these yellow to light green lichens would add a vibrant splash of color to a dried plant arrangement, terrarium or fairy garden. They would also look great if used along side air plants or succulents. These are all natural and have an interesting and pleasing scent. I have been told that the bright color displayed by the lichens lasts indefinitely if not exposed to direct sunlight.
The naming of this plant comes from the fact that the lichen was once used to create a poison that was toxic to wolves and foxes. Native American peoples are known to have harvested the plant for dyeing clothing.
Each order will contain one quart of loosely packed wolf lichen. The individual pieces will range in size from 1 X 1 inch to 5 X 4 inches and some may be attached to small branches or bark. A typical order can be seen in the final listing photo.
