Hesperaloe parviflora, a durable and forgiving succulent native to Texas, is a great option for those seeking a low maintenance addition to the landscape. The tall pink to red flower spikes appearing on mature plants each spring and summer are the basis for the common names for this plant, and include: Red Yucca, Coral Yucca, Hummingbird Yucca and Firecracker Yucca.
There are many reasons for choosing to plant H. parviflora. This is an excellent choice for xeriscaping as it is extremely drought resistant and heat tolerant once established. It can be grown in poor soil and will survive temperatures as low as 0 degrees Fahrenheit. The flowers attract hummingbirds and are a food source for bees as well.
The yuccas in this listing are 3 to 4 years old and are capable of blooming next spring. They are all between 24 and 30 inches tall and are being offered in groups of 5 plants. Each of the 2 gallon plastic pots shown in the listing photos contain 5 plants representative of those that will be shipped with a single order. All plants will be separated, allowing them to be planted individually if desired. As these are nearly root-bound currently, we suggest using a pot with a capacity of 3 gallons minimum if transplanting a group into a single container.
A planting and care guide will accompany each shipment of bare root plants (no soil or pots will be included with the yuccas).
