Of the many thousands of tree slices I have cut in my lifetime, the ten in this listing are among the most beautiful that I have ever witnessed.
These were cut from a red cedar tree that died a very long time ago. And, although it is impossible to determine the exact age of the wood, all indications are that the tree died over 100 years ago. Since that time, the wood aged naturally in a secluded part of our ranch until it was discovered earlier this year.
The tree was preserved incredibly well and the wood is among the hardest that I have ever cut. These slices were taken from an area where several limbs met the trunk, yielding a wonderful array of patterns. The rich, reddish-brown interior is highlighted by darker growth rings and sporadically occurring patches of beige. The wood also carries a strong cedar fragrance.
The slices have not been stained or treated in any way. Diameters of the pieces range from 4 to 6 inches and they are approximately 1/8 of an inch thick.
