This hanging planter is made of a single, solid piece of driftwood collected from the Texas coast. The piece has a wonderful shape, is a great combination of decoration and functionality and would be a great way to showcase your succulents, tilandsia or ferns. The planter has not been treated with any chemicals, sealers or stains.
The driftwood measures 30 inches in length, it is 7 inches wide and 12 inches tall. The planting cavity is roughly 17 X 3-1/2 inches and ranges in depth from 2 to 4 inches. To help convey the size, I have included a photograph of a Coca Cola can inside the planting area.
A very fine mesh aluminum screen has been secured at one end of the planting cavity to retain potting soil. To make the piece more rigid, a crack at one end of the bottom was repaired (clamped and glued).
Galvanized hanging chain has been permanently installed and is attached to the wood in four separate locations. The chains are joined together at the top by a 1 inch "S" hook. As is, the chain will suspend the planter approximately 24 inches below the anchor point, however links can be easily removed if desired.
