Powderpuff Cactus Clusters, Mammillaria Bocasana Multilanata - US Shipping Included

Commonly known as the Powderpuff Cactus and Fishooks Cactus, this cultivar of Mammillaria bocasana is a favorite among succulent enthusiasts as it flowers regularly and is easy to grow.

Multiple sides of the three cactus clusters being offered are shown in the listing photographs growing in their 5-1/2 inch pots. Each measures 4 inches in diameter and contains 13 to 17 stems. One of these clusters will be shipped with each order, however only a small amount of soil and no pot will be included. The plants may or may not be in bloom at the time of shipment.

These plants can grow rapidly to form large mounds and produce a multitude of white to pink flowers during late spring and early summer. They are covered in white "hair" and have darker hook-shaped spines that extend above their wooly covering. These spines were used as fish hooks by the indigenous peoples of Mexico, in areas where this is a native plant.

Grow these clusters in soil that has good drainage (standard cactus soil amended with additional perlite works well). Allow the soil to fully dry and remain that way for several days before watering during warmer months. Water only once every 6 weeks for the balance of the year. Place these in an area that receives direct morning sunlight and is partially shaded from afternoon sun. These plants may survive temperatures as low as 25 degrees Fahrenheit, but protecting them from anything below 40 degrees is the best practice.
