The Black Gem Aloe (Alworthia "Black Gem") is an unusual and highly sought after succulent that is very easy to care for. Depending on the amount of sunlight the plant receives, the leaves will change from green, to bronze, to purple and may become nearly black. These also produce offsets, or baby plants, when much smaller than other aloes and will form an increasingly large dense clump.
These are available in your choice of two different sizes, with the listing photos showing plants representative of each size. Smaller plants are 5 to 6 inches in diameter and larger aloes measure 9 to 10 inches in diameter. All are shown growing in 4 inch pots however they will ship without soil or containers.,
Provide these aloes with morning through midday direct sunlight or plenty of bright indirect light. Plant them in soil that drains very well and water only after their soil has dried completely. If in doubt, do not water. They prefer to be kept at temperatures ranging from 65 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, however they can withstand brief exposure to temperatures as low as 37 degrees.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not use heat packs and are not responsible for damage related to the plants being exposed to cold temperatures.
We cannot ship these plants to addresses in the state of California, however shipping to any address within the United States is included in the listing prices.
