The Old Man Cactus, Cephalocereus senilis, also goes by the common name of Old Man of Mexico. The "Old Man" name is derived not only from the long, soft spines that cover the plant, but also because they can have a lifespan of greater than 200 years.
These cacti are very easy to care for and have few requirements to remain happy and healthy. This sun loving succulent cannot survive freezing temperatures and performs best when grown in pots that allow them to be moved during periods of colder weather. Typical of most cacti, they should be planted in well draining soil. During warmer months, they should only be watered once the soil has completely dried. They should only be watered once per month during colder parts of the year.
The plants being offered in this listing stand 5-1/2 to 6 inches above the soil and the listing photographs show plants that are representative of all that are available growing in their 4 inch pots. Your choice of one or two plants will be included with each order. They will ship with a small amount of soil and without the pots.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not use heat packs and we are not responsible for damage related to the plants being exposed to cold temperatures. These cacti will be shipped without pots and with very little soil.
