The Argentinian Toothpick Cactus is a tall growing columnar species that may reach a height of 20 feet. These plants are a greenish gray, and at times blue, color and will grow arms that are decorated with the same long spines found on the trunk.
All sides of the exact plant are shown in the listing photographs. It stands 12-1/2 inches above the soil surface and is up to 2-1/2 inches in diameter. These dimensions do not include the spines that measure up to 2-3/4 inches in length. It is shown growing in a 3 gallon pot, however it will be shipped without container or soil.
The Toothpick cactus may survive temperatures as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit but exposure to below freezing conditions should be limited. Plant them in cactus soil that has been amended with 20 to 40% sand and place them in a location that receives plenty of sunlight. Water when dry during spring and summer and only once every 4 to 6 weeks during fall and winter.
