The Madagascar Ocotillo (Alluaudia procera) is a spiny succulent that can grow to a height of 20 feet. Their pale grey stems, bright green rounded leaves and twisting growth habit combine to produce a visually striking plant.
Multiple sides of the well rooted plants being made available are shown in the listing photographs. They are identifiable using their associated letters ("A" through "D"). All were photographed growing in 1 gallon containers, with A, B and C being individual plants and D being a pot containing two separate plants.
To clarify the information for each plant below:
"Stem Length" is the length of the exposed main stem if it were straightened and when planted as shown in the listing photographs. The stems extend an additional 4 to 6 inches below the soil.
"Branch Length" is the distance from the point the branch meets the stem to the tip of the branch when the branch is straightened.
Plant A: Stem Length: 23 Inches
Plant B: Stem Length: 26 Inches
Plant C: Stem Length: 10 Inches, Branch Lengths: 10 Inches Each
Pot D: Two separate plants included. Stem Lengths: 18 Inches and 22 Inches
All will be shipped without soil or pots.
These are quite easy to care for and have needs similar to most other succulents. They must be planted in well draining soil and watered infrequently. They may be grown in direct outdoor sunlight or a brightly lit indoor location. Madagascar Ocotillo may survive brief exposure to temperatures as low as 25 degrees Fahrenheit and will drop their leaves when dormant during the cooler months of the year.
