The sago palm (Cycas revoluta) also goes by the names of Japanese funeral palm and palm cycad. These easy to care for and versatile plants are well suited for growing indoors or out, in planters or in the ground.
Not a palm at all, the sago is actually a cycad that has existed since prehistoric times. In ideal conditions they may reach a height of 10 feet, a width of 8 feet and can live to be 200 years of age.
The photos show the exact plants that are being made available, each identifiable by their corresponding letters. The fronds of these plants will become much longer during the growing season. All were photographed growing in 2 gallon containers.

Sago palms require little special care, with over watering and exposure to below freezing temperatures being the main threats to their survival. They are surprisingly drought tolerant and can go more than a month without water. They should be planted in well draining soil that is allowed to completely dry before being watered again. In our experience, these plants do best when provided bright indirect sunlight or direct early through midday sunlight. Mine have scorched when exposed to the direct late afternoon sunlight of Central Texas. I am located in hardiness zone 8b and have had no issues growing these plants in the ground outdoors. While they do need to be protected from freezing temperatures, my sago palms have survived temperatures as low as 15 degrees by simply having a heavy blanket draped over them.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not use heat packs and are not responsible for damage related to the plants being exposed to cold temperatures.
