Conglomerate is a sedimentary rock made up of small, rounded stones that have been bound together by a natural cement. The specimens in this listing were formed in ancient streambeds, rivers and seas that once existed in Texas.
There are five different sets available in this listing, with the listing photographs showing the exact pieces for each. Well weathered material and "fresh" specimens can be found in the mix of stones.
Set "A": A variety of five smaller conglomerates. Pieces range in size from 1-1/3 x 1 x 1 inch to 2 x 1-1/3 x 1 inch. The total weight for the set is 7 ounces.
Set "B": Three larger pieces of conglomerate showing no signs of weathering. The smallest piece measures 2-3/4 x 2 x 1-1/3 inches and the largest is 2-3/4 x 2-1/4 x 2 inches. These have a combined weight of 14 ounces.
Set "C": Three larger pieces of conglomerate that have been rounded by weathering. The smallest is 2-3/4 x 2-1/2 x 1-1/2 inches and the largest measures 3-1/2 x 2 x 1-1/2 inches. The total weight of the set is 1 pound, 2 ounces.
Set "D": Ten weathered pieces with sizes ranging between 1-1/2 x 1-1/4 x 1 inch and 2-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 1-1/4 inches. Total weight of 1 pound, 13 ounces.
Set "E": A large variety of conglomerates can be found in this 25 piece, 2-1/2 pound assortment. The smallest specimen measures 1-1/3 x 1 x 1/2 inch and the largest is 2-1/2 x 2 x 1-1/3 inches.
