Cypress Vine and Cardinal Climber are fast growing annuals that are closely related to one another. Both produce a massive number of flowers between late spring and the first frost that attract hummingbirds and butterflies.
Most Cypress Vines will produce bright red star shaped flowers, however a portion will bloom white or pink. Although it is an annual, the vine will typically reseed with new plants returning year after year. The leaves of Cypress vine have a fine, lacy appearance.
The Cardinal Climber is a hybrid cross between Cypress Vine and red morning glory. These produce pentagon shaped flowers that are always red. They will readily reseed in warmer climates and those in colder areas of the country typically collect seed pods and replant the seeds each spring. Their leaves are broader than those of Cypress Vine.
The listing photos show 2 gallon containers, each containing multiple vines. The contents of one pot will be included with each order and at least one plant will be 20 inches or greater in length. A portion of the pots contain only Cypress Vines and others contain a mix of Cypress Vine and Cardinal Climber. The order options provide a choice between multiple flower color and vine combinations. The options are abbreviated, but the following list provides the definitions for each:
Cypress Red: Only cypress vines that produce red flowers.
Cypress White: Only cypress vines that produce white flowers.
Cypress Red/White: Cypress vines that produce red flowers and cypress vines that produce white flowers.
Climber + Red: Cardinal Climber vine as well as cypress vine producing red flowers.

Although we try our best to verify the flower colors for every vine, it is possible that a cypress vine having a random flower color could be found in addition to the colors ordered.
These will be shipped with the majority of their soil in place however the pots are not included. We strongly suggest that these be planted as received and not separated to avoid damage to their delicate root systems.
Both of these vines perform best when planted near a structure suitable for climbing. As temperatures warm, they quickly grow to a length of 20 feet. They should be provided as much sun as possible and planted in well draining soil. While they are somewhat drought tolerant once established, keeping their soil moist is the best practice.
We cannot ship these vines to destinations within the states of California, Hawaii or to the US island territories. If shipping to Alaska, you must choose to ship your vine via Priority Mail.

Arrived in pretty bad shape, still looks the same except for one small flower. I guess I shouldn’t have ordered a plant like this online because the mail and darkness didn’t help this fragile plant. But for 30.00 dollars I thought the seller had done this kind of plant shipping before. Best of luck….. Update, The owner made everything right, thank you so much. I really do hope this plant gets healthy. I will not give up on it.
