Wild Giant Rain Lily, Cooperia Pedunculata, 6 or 12 Bulbs - FREE US Shipping

Sorry, this item has sold.

Cooperia pedunculata is a rain lily that is native to portions of Texas, Louisiana and Mexico. These lilies bloom between spring and late summer and go by the common names of Hill Country Rain Lily, Giant Rain Lily, Flor De Mayo and Prairie Rain Lily.

These are much larger than other wild rain lily species that share their habitat. Their bulbs may grow to be 3 inches in diameter and the flowers typically measure 2 inches across. The flowers seem to appear out of nowhere two to three days following a heavy rain. The blooms are white and trumpet shaped when they open, eventually spreading wider and developing a pink tint. Although the flowers only remain open for a few days, they will bloom often during spring, and then sporadically through summer. Their long bluish-green leaves stand out prominently when the plant is not in bloom.

Each order will contain your choice of 6 or 12 bulbs that will be wild harvested from our Texas ranch, with the third listing photo showing bulbs representative of those that will be shipped. They prefer well draining soil, however also grow very well in heavy clay. Plant them 3 to 4 inches below the soil surface in an area where water does not stand and in full sun to very light shade. These drought tolerant plants should not be provided with anything beyond naturally occurring rain water. These may be planted outdoors in USDA zones 7 through 10 and also grow very well in containers.

Shipping to any address within the contiguous United States, with the exception of those in California, is included in the listing prices. We cannot ship these bulbs to destinations within California or to those falling outside of the contiguous USA.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not use heat packs and we are not responsible for damage related to the plants being exposed to cold temperatures.
